Automated investing, built to your own rules

You already know how you want to invest: what to buy, how much, how often, and when to rebalance. What takes the time is doing it, on schedule, across accounts, without mistakes. We build software that carries out your written rules through your own broker, and tells you what it did.

The rules are yours. We never choose what you buy, we do not offer model portfolios, and we do not give investment advice. We build the software that follows your rules.

What we have built for investors

For a couple of clients in the US managing their family’s assets, we built portfolio rebalancing systems that bring holdings back to the targets they set, and a covered-call system that sells calls against holdings they already own, by their own rules for strikes, expiries and rolling.

What investors ask us to automate

  • Scheduled buying. Set amounts into the stocks or ETFs you choose, on the dates you choose, with market holidays and partial fills handled.
  • Rebalancing to your targets. Holdings brought back to your weights when they drift past the bands you set, with costs and lot sizes taken into account. More on our portfolio rebalancing page.
  • Options on what you hold. Covered calls, or protective positions, against existing holdings, by your rules for when and how.
  • Alerts and one view. A dashboard of every account in the family, and alerts when something needs your attention, rather than a spreadsheet updated by hand.

Several accounts, one set of rules

Families rarely invest through a single account. One system can apply your rules to each account separately, respect what each one may hold, and report the whole picture in one place. Where the accounts are at different brokers, it keeps a separate connection to each, the same engineering as our multi-broker platforms.

US, international and Indian markets

For US stocks and ETFs we usually build on the broker’s own API, most often Interactive Brokers. For Indian markets we build on your Indian broker’s official API; see our Indian broker page. There, SEBI’s retail algo framework applies to any system placing orders through an API, which our guide to the rules explains. Investing from abroad is on our page for NRIs, and what we automate across stocks and ETFs is on our stocks and ETFs page.

Why write the rules down first

Software can only follow rules that are precise. “Rebalance when it looks off” becomes “rebalance any holding more than five percentage points from its target, on the first trading day of the month”. Writing your rules that precisely is often useful in itself, and it is the first thing we work through with you, before any code.

Common questions

Can you automate a monthly investment into stocks or ETFs I choose?
Yes. You set the list, the amounts and the schedule; the system places the orders through your broker’s API on the dates you choose, handles holidays and partial fills, and keeps a record of every purchase.
What does a covered-call system do?
It sells call options against shares you already own, following your rules for which holdings, which strike and expiry, and when to roll or close. We have built one for a US client managing family assets. The rules and the decision to use them are yours.
Will you tell us what to buy?
No. Choosing investments is advice, which in India needs SEBI registration, and we do not give it anywhere. The list, the weights and every rule come from you; we build the software that follows them.
I live in India. Does SEBI’s algo framework apply to my system?
If the system places orders through your broker’s API, yes. A system you run yourself needs a static IP registered with your broker and a proper sign-in, and below 10 orders a second it needs no separate registration with the exchange. Our guide to SEBI’s retail algo trading rules explains the details.
